Proper subfloor preparation is crucial for a successful LVP installation. Remove existing flooring completely, ensuring the subfloor is clean, dry, and level. Any debris or unevenness can cause problems with your new floor.

Use a level to check for low or high spots across the entire floor. Fill depressions deeper than 3/16" with appropriate leveling compound. Sand down high spots carefully to create a smooth surface.

Start installation in a corner of the room, using spacers along walls to maintain a ¼" expansion gap. This gap allows for natural movement of the flooring with temperature changes.

For most click-lock LVP systems, angle the tongue of the new plank into the groove of the installed plank at approximately 30 degrees. Lower the plank while maintaining forward pressure until it clicks into place.
